Jersey Music Service host inaugural School Music Co-ordinators Conference

The day long conference takes place at Chateau Vermont, St Saviour and around twenty participants representing all island primary schools are expected to attend.

As well as providing the opportunity to network, share information and knowledge the conference will include a percussion workshop led by Brent Connan, training on Charanga – an online instrumental music resource, presentations on Whole Class Ensemble Teaching along with vocal workshops.

Discussing the event Dr Graham Cox, Principal of JMS said, “We are delighted to be hosting this conference, the aim of the which is to support music co-ordinators across the island and help to develop those staff who are not music specialists as well as to give ideas and inspiration to those who are music specialists.

Off-island training is very costly for schools and this conference, which we hope will become an annual event, is free of charge to delegates and offers Jersey teachers the opportunity to meet and share ideas with other music colleagues across the island as well as hearing from our two visiting workshop leaders who are at the cutting edge of new musical developments in education. ”
